2008 Season Record:
81-81
Total Runs: 809-761
AL Central Standings
Team W/L GB
Chicago White Sox 89-74 --
Minnesota Twins 88-75 1.0
Cleveland Indians 81-81 7.5
Kansas City Royals 75-87 13.5
Detroit Tigers 74-88 14.5

September 28, 2008 - Cleveland's final game of the season was a loss, and they went .500 for the season. Hopefully next year they can have a better season.
September 27, 2008 - And Cleveland won today 12-6, assuring they'll finish atleast .500 for the season. Go Tribe, and let's hope next season they can do something. It looks like a victory tomorrow can keep Chicago, and Thome at home during October.
September 26, 2008 - Cleveland is able to play spoiler for the White Sox, and I for one hope they pull it off. Tonight, Ryan Garko hit a grand slam in the 5th inning, to power the Indians to their victory. We may be able to keep Chicago at home during October. Not to mention, the ability to still have a winning season with 2 games left to play.
September 25, 2008 - And they have now dropped 3 of 4 to Boston, and need to win the series this weekend to have a winning season. Final series of the season, and it's been a very disappointing season, aside from Cliff Lee. Who would have thought that the team that came within a game of reaching the World Series last year would wind up fighting to have a winning season.
September 24, 2008 - The Indians dropped 2 in a row, both by the same score. 1 more game with Boston, and just a series with Chicago, in Chicago... and that's all folks. Looking forward to next season.
September 22, 2008 - Jensen Lewis struck out the Red Sox batter in the 9th, to keep a victory intact, and prevent Boston from clinching a playoff berth tonight. Also, Cleveland is now 2 games over .500, and only has 6 games left to play. Let's see if we can't be a bit more of a spoiler before the end of the season.
September 21, 2008 - Scott Lewis got his 3rd straight victory today, and the Indians now have a winning season so far. On July 9, they were 16 games under .500, they've gone 41-24 since, and now are 78-77. Why on earth they can't seem to start strong, I don't understand. They need to work on that for next year, but for now we get to see if they have a winning season. Go Tribe!
September 20, 2008 - Took us nearly all year to get back to it, but the Tribe is back at .500 ball, with a record of 77-77. Shin Sin Choo continued hammering the ball, and Jeremy Sowers went 6 innings getting the win, 6-3 over Detroit.
September 19, 2008 - Four players were ejected in a ninth inning win for the Indians. Now we're 1 game under .500, and I am praying for a winning season. We only have 9 games to go.
September 17, 2008 - Cliff Lee went to the mound looking for his 23rd victory of the year, gave up 4 runs, and wound up in a no decision tonight. The Indians beat the Twins, 6-4
September 13, 2008 - Fausto Carmona had a rain soaked, horrible night tonight, giving up 7 runs, again. Carmona is at 8-7 this season, and hasn't been very impressive. Perhaps he can have a good year next year. The Royals swept the double-header. The second game was 4-8. Awful, but yet more for the season.
September 12, 2008 - Cliff Lee's amazing season continues, which him reaching his 22nd victory, putting him at 22-2, and being the first man since 1990 to go 20 games over .500. Amazing, on a team with 72 victories, to have 1 man with 22 of them. Everyone else on the team has 50 victories amongst them. Scary. If he doesn't win the Cy Young this year it'll be a travesty, if he does it means Cleveland won the Cy Young 2 years in a row, with different pitchers.
September 11, 2008 - Tonight Baltimore snapped their losing slump, beating our beloved Tribe, 6-3. Cleveland keeps flirting with getting back to .500, but we still have games left, so I for one want to see a winning season.
September 10, 2008 - Scott Lewis allowed 3 hits over 8 shutout innings of work tonight, get his first Major League victory. Let's hope this means there are good things in store for next year. The remainder of this season is just a show of players we can use next season.
September 9, 2008 - Jeremy Sowers turned in a great performance tonight, shutting down Baltimore, getting the win.
September 8, 2008 - Cleveland just got their butts handed to them on a silver platter tonight. The Orioles, Aubrey Huff hit a grand slam during a 7-run sixth inning to bury the Indians, and of course our offense this year has been anemic. Goodbye baseball!
September 7, 2008 - Victor Martinez sparked the offense for the Tribe today, and they won behind Cliff Lee, who got his 21st victory of the season. What a season he's having. Of the 69 victories the Tribe has this year, 21 of them belong to Cliff Lee.
September 6, 2008 - The Tribe didn't put forth any offense tonight, and lost the game. We keep coming close to .500, but not quite there. 3 games under .500 is the best we've been since May.
September 5, 2008 - Cleveland won tonight with the big inning, beating the Royals during the 5th inning with 7 consecutive hits, 5 RBI singles, producing 6 runs. Go Tribe!!! We can still have a winning season, just doesn't look like a playoff year.
September 3, 2008 - They lost this one, but won the series with Chicago. Not much offense today.
September 2, 2008 - And the Indians season is down to being a spoiler. Though, even 9.5 games back isn't impossible, just really tough when you're chasing 2, and not just 1. Either way, I just want to see them get back to .500 for the season. Victor Martinez went 1 for 5 tonight, and the Indians have not one single person who's batting over .300. Well, 24 games left.
September 1, 2008 - Cliff Lee got win 20 tonight, making him the first Indians pitcher to get to that in 34 years!!! Last time was Gaylord Perry, 1974.
August 31, 2008 - And after winning 10 in a row, the Indians get swept by a team that has the worst record in the majors. What a fitting part of a season like this.
August 30, 2008 - 4-3 in the 10th... what more is there to say?
August 29, 2008 - And the winning streak is snapped. 10 was a good run. Let's see if they can get to .500 soon?
August 27, 2008 - And they did it again. Where was this in the beginning of the year? Is there any possibility of us actually making the playoffs? Not likely, but quite possible.
August 26, 2008 - Cliff Lee got his American League leading 19th victory tonight, and the Indians extended their longest winning streak of the season to 9 games. There's hope that they may finish over .500.
August 25, 2008 - Grady Sizemore became the first Indian since Joe Carter in 1987 to join the 30/30 club. That's 30 homers, and 30 stolen bases. The Indians finally look like a good team again, but now we're too far back for it to much matter. 8 in a row now.
August 24, 2008 - And just like that they reel off 7 straight, what in the world? Well, whatever the reason it's a positive thing, and thus I'm a bit happier.
August 16, 2008 - And my sporadic coverage of this lousy season continues. Who knew after last year, that this season would turn out like this. I'll be thrilled if they make it back to .500. Also, why are we still holding onto Travis Hafner? The guy is no serious hitter, and it's obvious. He's been mired in a 3 year slump. Maybe I'll keep up on this, maybe not, but I do have to get busy working on the upcoming football season.
July 21, 2008 - In the last 8 games they've gone 7-1, seems like too little too late, but we'll see. They traded C.C.Sabathia away, now they turn on the heat? I predict 78-84 for the year.
July 10, 2008 - Well, even the Indians brass has given up on this season, they dealt C.C.Sabathia away for nearly noone. The Indians summer is ostensibly over, so if you're a true baseball fan, you get to watch other teams. Tampa Bay is really a surprise this season. They're doing very well.
June 22,2008 - I'm sorry, but I've been on hiatus from this recently. I will try to keep on top of it for the remainder of the season. From what I've seen they're really not doing well. They're 6 games under .500, and they need something big to either rocket into contention, or C.C.Sabathia is likely gone. Well, let's see what Shapiro pulls out of his hat this time...
June 3, 2008 - Well, the baseball season is a marathon, and I hate to say uncle this early in the season, but I'd say based on what I've seen, unless they pull off a blockbuster trade, stick a fork in them, they're done. 26-32 isn't horrible, but it's a heck of a long way from what a champ should be. I guess we'll see, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
May 25, 2008 - A stupid error in the 10th gives Texas the win, and the series making this the Indians' 3rd straight series loss, and 8 losses in 9 games. No offense, still we wait for an answer from Mark Shapiro, get dealing pal!
May 22, 2008 - And now a 6 game losing skid. Still we have no offense. This needs fixed, and needs fixed now. This season could be very promising based on our pitching, but the hitting is stinking up the joint.
May 20, 2008 - Fantastic, a 4 game losing skid. C.C.Sabathia got out done by Jose Contreras, and we wound up with no offense again. I think maybe a new hitting coach? Seems like we're not getting good at bats.
May 16, 2008 - We have great pitching, but no offense, and tonight was yet another example. I don't know enough about baseball to say what exactly the problem is here, but there's definitely a problem. Where's Hafner? Isn't he supposed to be our "hitter"?
May 15, 2008 - Aaron Laffey put on a good show, though he broke our string of scoreless innings. Either way, the Indians went 6-1 on this home stand, and things look to be in great order. The starting rotation is just dominant of late.
May 14, 2008 - C.C.Sabathia overpowered the A's, pitching a shutout Wednesday night. The Indians starting staff has now gone 43 1/3 scoreless innings, the first time that's happened in a Major League regular season since the Baltimore Orioles went 54 innings in September of 1974.
May 10, 2008 - Cleveland really laid a good one on Toronto tonight, beating them 12-0. Aaron Laffey started the game, and gave up no runs.
May 7, 2008 - Cliff Lee once again put on a stellar performance, raising his record to 6-0. Lee went 7 innings without giving up any runs. What a phenomenal performance, and this is one of the things that makes me believe the Indians stand a good chance of making it to the series, but it's hard to say, it's baseball, and anything can happen.
May 6, 2008 - Well, we beat the Yankees tonight, in the 9th inning. The Tribe is getting through the season so far, but they're going to have to turn on something at some point. Fausto Carmona has had a pretty good season so far, as has Cliff Lee, who is 5-0, and will pitch tomorrow.
May 1, 2008 - Asdrubal Cabrerra hit a bases loaded single in the 11th inning, winning the game for the Tribe 3-2. We're back to 1 game under .500, and well this is the Tribe in April under Eric Wedge. I am not concerned yet.
April 30, 2008 - Cliff Lee is now 5-0, after pitching yet another gem Wednesday night. He gave up only a 3-run homer, and went 6 innings, bringing his league low era to 0.96. We finally got to see Cleveland's offense again, why you don't see it more often, I don't know.
April 28, 2008 - Cleveland dropped another to the Yankees tonight, splitting the series with the Yankees. Any true baseball fan hates the Yankees, because they generally ruin the competition of the sport. When you see a team advance to the World Series in fully 1 in 4 seasons since 1921, you have to figure out what's up.
April 27, 2008 - The Yankees shutout the Indians in, 0-1. Not much to report here, the Indians dropped 1 game below .500.
April 26, 2008 - Victor Martinez drove in the game winning run, in the person of Grady Sizemore. Masa Kobayashi got a big victory tonight.
April 25, 2008 - Jhonny Peralta hit a 3-run bomb in the fifth to put the Indians up 6-4, and give the Indians their first regular season victory against New York in 8 tries.
April 24, 2008 - Cliff Lee is now 4-0, pitching a complete game shutout, and handing the Royals their seventh straight loss. Cliff Lee currently leads the majors with a 0.28 ERA, unbelievable by almost any standard, giving up 1 run in 31 2/3 innings of work. The Tribe could be very good this year if they can get their act in order. This was a big plus.
April 22, 2008 - Tonight C.C.Sabathia completely dominated the lowly Royals, as the Indians offense finally came alive, and posted 15 runs, including a grand slam by Casey Blake. Cleveland needs to start piling on a few wins if they want to keep their spirits up.
April 19, 2008 - And today the Twins returned the favor. Cleveland had no offense, and Nick Blackburn pitched a gem for the Twins, adding to the troubles Cleveland always seems to have with pitchers they've never faced.
April 18, 2008 - Cliff Lee pitched a masterpiece tonight, throwing 2-hit ball into the 8th inning. Cleveland easily won 4-0. Casey Blake looks better and better.
April 17, 2008 - Still not updating as much as I should, but I'm going to try to improve that. They beat Detroit 11-1, and Fausto looked phenomenal.
April 9, 2008 - Well, I haven't been as good about updating this page, but hopefully that will improve now. Either way, the Indians are stumbling through the beginning of April, and we'll just have to hope htat this isn't a prelude to the remainder of the season.
April 5, 2008 - Cleveland has now dropped 3 in a row, and really misses having Victor Martinez in the lineup. Today Oakland beat us 1-6, and in the past 3 games Cleveland has mustered 5 runs. Can't win games like that.
April 2, 2008 - For the first time since 1955, the Indians started the season 2-0. This is 2 of the hopefully 95 or better victories we'll get this season. Fausto Carmona pitched a gem of a ballgame, and the Indians trounced the White Sox, 7-2.
March 31, 2008 - The Indians opened the season for the second year in a row with a season opening victory over the Chicago White Sox. Casey Blake hit a bases clearing double in the eighth inning, and the Indians won 10-8.
March 31, 2008 - ESPN's Peter Gammons believes that the Indians are destined to get the AL Wildcard this season, and win the World Series over Atlanta. Let's hope he's right...
February 27, 2008 - Today I completed the 2008 schedule, so now every game played I will update the page, like the previous seasons. I got the TV schedule from the Indians' official site, so it should be good.
February 26, 2008 - Today I updated the site with the page that will contain the stats for the 2008 season. The calendar isn't yet done, but the rest is ready. Hopefully this year brings us a World Series victory. We haven't had one of those in 60 years.
